Never a Dull Moment at Tropicana AC

All of you who play at TropicanaCasino.com and/or sister site VirginCasino.com know that the special promotions at both sites are nonstop. So it should come as no surprise at all that the same is true at Tropicana AC. In fact, right now there is more going on there than ever.

Bacon Week will be wrapping up Saturday, April 21. However, on Friday, April 27, the Trop will hold its annual Halfway to Halloween bash, and the Spring Fever Festival continues through Friday, May 28.

But wait. That’s only the start. Next month the completed renovated Chelsea Tower will be open for business. Getting from there to any other part of Tropicana AC will be a breeze, too, via the brand new overpass between the Chelsea Tower and the resort.

Lastly, in case any of you haven’t seen the headlines a few days ago, both the hotel and casino are being acquired by Eldorado Resorts.  As I said, there is never a dull moment at Tropicana AC!

The Choices Are Staggering

Of course, all the familiar favorites like bacon and eggs, a BLT, and grilled cheese sandwich or cheeseburger with bacon are available. But if you’re clamoring for something out of the box, choose instead from an incredible array of anything but ordinary main dishes, drinks, and even desserts–all  made with bacon.

For example, you can have bacon wrapped shrimp at A Dam Good Sports Bar or Broadway Burger Bar or bacon wrapped salmon at Casa Taco & Tequila Bar. Marcona Almond Stuffed Bacon Wrapped Dates at Olon also sounds intriguing as does the Pork Belly Slider with Bacon and Chipotle Onion Marmalade at Cuba Libre.

You can quench your thirst with a bacon infused Bloody Mary at Caso Taco & Tequila Bar. Then satisfy your sweet tooth with the Chocolate Bacon Lava Cake with Vanilla Gelato at Il Verdi.

You can even bring home the bacon. Lick Candy Store has a huge assortment of bacon flavored candy. The Bacon Bites booth not only carries slabs of bacon and bacon flavored snacks and candies, but bacon pizza!

New Chelsea Tower

Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, Tropicana AC players and guests will have even more accommodations and dining options with the debut of the renovated Chelsea Tower.  For added convenience, guests will be able to use a brand new Skybridge, an enclosed pedestrian walkway connecting the Chelsea Tower with the rest of the property.

Chelsea Tower guests will have access to two pools: a rooftop pool with a full service bar, poolside dining, and cabana rentals, in addition to a ground level pool surrounded by greenery and patio furniture.

Restaurants and bars include the following:

  • Gilchrist Restaurant
  • Chelsea Five Gastropub: a new restaurant with panoramic ocean views, offering steak, seafood, and pasta
  • Whiskey Five: a themed bar with billiards tables, specializing in old fashioned cocktails

After acquiring the Chelsea Hotel in July, 2017, Tropicana AC invested over $200 million in renovating and upgrading the property. The ceremonial ribbon cutting for the Chelsea Tower Skybridge will take place on Thursday, May 24, and the facility will open its doors to the public on Friday, May 25. The celebration will continue on Saturday, May 26 with a Boardwalk Block Party and fireworks starting at 9 p.m.

The addition of the Chelsea Tower will bring the total number of hotel rooms at the resort to 2,400. Even so, if you wish to stay there Memorial Day weekend or any other weekend during the busy summer season, you should make your reservations now.

Tropicana AC Being Sold—Will Merge with Eldorado Resorts

The last piece of news is that Tropicana AC is being sold. Billionaire Carl Icahn, who sold the Taj  Mahal to Hard Rock but currently owns the Tropicana, has agreed to sell the latter as well. The Atlantic City hotel and casino is one of seven Tropicana Entertainment properties being sold to Reno based Eldorado Resorts, Inc. and Gaming and Leisure Properties, Inc. for $1.85 billion. The lion’s share of that sum ($l.21 billion) is specifically for the Atlantic City property. The sale is expected to close in the second half of 2018.

Tropicana is currently the second highest grossing casino in Atlantic City, trailing only the Borgata. It is believed that one of the factors motivating Icahn to sell was worry about a possible drop in business due to the addition of two new casinos this summer. How Tropicana AC will fare under its new ownership remains to be seen.
