Independence Playback at, just like sister online casino, will find any excuse they can think of to offer their favorite type of bonus: Playback Money.  So it’s no surprise at all that Virgin is kicking off this July 4th holiday weekend, not necessarily with what I call a bang, but with an “Independence Playback” offer.

Many of you will have extra free time due to the holiday or simply need to take a break from other July 4th related festivities. Accordingly, the NJ online casinos are counting on you to spend a good deal of time playing your favorite games. That’s why the special promotions are so plentiful.

Obviously, the last thing you want to happen is to lose, so Virgin’s invitation to “celebrate the stars and stripes” with a Playback Bonus is misleading. The only one with real reason to celebrate when a player loses is the casino! However, a Playback Bonus lessens the blow to the player in two ways. First, the player feels better psychologically, from finally being on the receiving end monetarily rather than the giving end. Second, the temporary boost to your playing bankroll keeps you in the game.

Difference Between a Playback Bonus and a Payback Bonus

If you’re new to Virgin Online Casino and plan to sign up for the “Independence Playback” promotion, don’t get tripped up by the terminology. A Playback Bonus is not a Payback Bonus!

After betting the bonus as the promotion terms stipulate, if you win, will you then be able to cash the bonus or continue replaying the bonus to try to win more? With a Payback Bonus, yes, but with a Playback Bonus, no.

What to Expect From the Independence Playback Promotion

If you’re a player and expect to be betting on the site anytime from now through July 4, you should opt into this promotion. The reason is is to give you a little insurance, whereby if and only if your play during the promotional period produces a net loss, you will get something back from the casino. Hopefully, this Playback Bonus will do its job and produce a win for you, albeit probably a small win since you can only wager the bonus once. But if not and you lose the bonus, too, simply shrug it off as it’s the casino’s money you would be losing, not yours.

But I like to tell players to think positive. The best outcome by far would be to win and not get this bonus!

How to Participate in the Independence Playback Promotion

This promotion actually started yesterday, June 30. However, opting in today, or whenever you are ready to start playing, is fine. Your bonus eligibility is based on your total net loss over the entire promotional period. It does not increase based on how many days you play and lose.

The Playback is a slot play bonus only. You can play any combination of games you wish from the following list:

  • Secrets of Atlantis
  • Dead or Alive
  • Fairytale Legends
  • Piggy Riches
  • Motorhead
  • King of Slots
  • Starburst
  • Tiki Totems
  • Tiki Island
  • Jin’s Jungle
  • Secret of the Phoenix
  • Cleopatra Plus

The minimum total wager on one or more of these games to be considered for a bonus is only $50. Also, whether you do your wagering on one day or multiple days is entirely up to you. On Wednesday, July 5, the casino will determine your net loss, if any, based on all your play combined. Then, if you qualify for a bonus, it will be placed in your account within 24 hours.

All Playback Bonuses will be at the rate of 15% of the player’s net loss, up to $75. In other words, in order to get the $75 maximum bonus, first you would have to lose $500 of your own money. Or, if your net loss is $100, your bonus would be $15, or if your net loss is only $50, your bonus would be $7.50. The smallest bonus available is $1.00, based on a net loss of $6.67.

Playback Bonus Wagering Requirements

All Bonus Money resulting from this promotion comes with a wagering requirement of 1x the bonus (on any game). As long as you complete this wagering within 30 days, any resulting winnings are yours to keep, but not the bonus itself. As soon as you wager the bonus once, the casino takes it back.

Is the Independence Playback Bonus Worthwhile?

I have made no secret of the fact that I am not a fan of Playback Bonuses. They put players in a negative mindset of being convinced they are going to lose. Then, because of the bonus being offered, they make quitting when ahead even more difficult and, last but not least, reward the player for losing.

Furthermore, the bonus is only a small percentage of the total net loss, and you can’t even keep that. So your chances of turning a losing session into a winning one are minimal. It would take extraordinary luck, like hitting a big jackpot almost immediately, for that to happen.

On the other hand, as far as Playback Bonus promotions go, Independence Playback is one of the better ones. No deposit is required, and the required wagering of your own money is only $50, so if you’re a small player or money is tight, no problem.

This bonus offer is certainly better than the concurrent promotion at, also capped at $75, but where the bonus percentage increases from a measly 5% to 20% based on how many days you play, 2, 3, 4, or 5. Also, you are getting a free ride with the bonus. You can’t possibly lose any more of your own money unless you voluntarily deposit and wager it.

Therefore, anyone who will be playing at anytime during the promotional period should opt in to the Independence Playback offer. Hopefully, you won’t need it, but just in case you don’t win, you’ll be glad to find a bonus in your account.
